Free screening of “The Girls in the Band”
“The Girls In the Band” tells the poignant, untold stories of female jazz and big band instrumentalists and their fascinating, groundbreaking journeys from the late 20’s to the present day. These incredibly talented women endured sexism, racism and diminished opportunities for decades, yet continue to persevere, inspire and elevate their talents in a field that seldom welcomed them. This free screening presented by the Workers Unite Film Festival, Local 802, and the DECIBAL Collective.
Doors open at 6pm; movie starts at 7pm. Q&A with director Judy Chaikin to follow.
