‘Why we joined the union’
Volume 118, No. 7July, 2018
I joined Local 802 to become better connected with New York City musicians. Plus I’m also a strong believer in what the union does. My musical goal in NYC is to immerse myself in as many musical situations as possible. I enjoy backing up singer-songwriters, playing for theatre, and scoring for various forms of media. I’m also passionate about teaching. Music has been a part of my life for a long time, and to put it simply, playing music makes me happy. Studying and playing music never feels like a job to me, and music has allowed me to meet many phenomenal players who I learn a ton from every time we play together. In addition to performing and teaching, I’m a guest writer for Guitar World Magazine in the magazine’s lesson section. I just graduated from Berklee with a degree in contemporary writing and production. I spend a lot of time composing, arranging and producing, and I’ll be touring with “Come From Away” starting in September. My principal instrument is guitar.
