I joined Local 802 because I wanted to expand my knowledge of music with other musicians. I was also encouraged by the various benefits that are offered to union members, such as the referral service. It makes me feel that I belong to a musical community. And what better community than New York City? My goal here is to jam with other like-minded artists who appreciate the power of music and expression, and to grow musically by collaborating with other musicians. I had some recent gigs at the Art League of Long Island Gallery, where I’m a member. I played upright bass with different pianists, and I also exhibited my own paintings. I also played a recent benefit for the children of Uganda.
