The May issue of Allegro includes a poster for the Rent 2002 campaign – whose goal is to persuade the State Legislature and the Governor to renew and strengthen rent control and rent stabilization laws in 2002, a year before they actually expire, and before the Nov. 5, 2002 elections. Local 802 is an active member of the campaign, along with many other unions and community groups (see February Allegro).

To help build visibility for the campaign, 802 members are urged to put the poster in their apartment window on or after Monday, May 13 (not earlier than that date). Choose the window where it will be most visible to neighbors or passersby, and keep it posted until the rent laws are renewed, or until after the Nov. 5 elections.
