New website helps musicians find resources for education opportunities
Volume 116, No. 1January, 2016
It’s a new year – a time to begin, start over, refresh and renew. In this spirit, the Council for Living Music is proud to announce the launch of its new web site: CouncilForLivingMusic.org. The site contains fresh content about the Council for Living Music’s new education endeavors as well as the expansion of its mission to help musicians create and find employment within the arts and education industry.
As you tour the site, you’ll find the KEEP IT LIVE page where you’ll see a section that features an e-mail subscription form and a survey where you can add yourself to our growing list of available music artists interested in work.
Please note that this is a work in progress and that the Council for Living Music will continue to explore arts-in-education employment opportunities. The Council will also work to qualify for a Multiple Task Award Contract with the Department of Education. If and when we qualify, we will be more actively involved in facilitating employment opportunities for music artists through the DOE. In the meantime, if you are a music artist who has a pre-existing working relationship with a principal or who works in a school and would like us to help you negotiate these kinds of opportunities on a case-by-case basis, please don’t hesitate to call a Local 802 representative at (212) 245-4802 and we’ll let you know how we can help you.
