New Web Site Keeps Music Live
Volume CIV, No. 12December, 2004
“Save Live Music” is not just Local 802’s mission — it’s also the name of a new Web site sponsored by the union.
Go to www.SaveLiveMusic.com to keep track of the union’s fight for live music and battle against the virtual orchestra machine.
One purpose of the site is to connect with the general public and let audience members know that the union takes this fight seriously. Visitors to the site can check out the latest union news and sign a petition supporting live music.
Also, if a member of the general public wants to hire musicians, he or she can fill out a request form online. This form gets forwarded to the union and automatically processed through our music referral service. (For more information, contact Theresa Couture at ext. 115.)
Local 802 members who already know about the issues can also find useful information on the site. For instance, members can post free classified ads.
Also, visitors to the site can watch video messages from Stephen Sondheim, Paul Gemignani and John McDaniel giving testimonials in support of Local 802.
The site is supported by 802’s live music campaign.
To get started, go to www.SaveLiveMusic.com.
