OFF-BROADWAY

Jolson & Company: Local 802 negotiated an agreement with Jolson & Company, L.L.C., Roger Gindi, general manager, for this production at the 299-seat Century Center Theatre covering three musicians. The minimum scale for an eight-performance week is $700, which includes one guaranteed double. The scale for the music director/conductor is $1,100 and the associate conductor premium is 15 percent. The rehearsal/audition scale is $800 for a 40-hour/six-day week, or $30 per hour, with a minimum call of two-hours. The orchestra hourly scale is $20 with a minimum call of two hours. Doubling pays 121/2 for the first and 61/4 percent for each additional. The premium for synthesizer is 25 percent. Vacation is 4 percent and pension is 8 percent. Health benefits are $54 per week for performances and $5.40 per hour for rehearsals, with a minimum two-hour call, up to $10.80 per day. Sick leave is accumulated at one performance for every 48 performances worked. Music preparation wages are 80 percent of Broadway rate. All musicians have identity with the product.

Call the Children Home: Local 802 has reached an eight-week contract with Primary Stages for this off-off Broadway production in their 99-seat theatre on 45th Street. The agreement provides for a minimum weekly scale of $550 for an eight-performance week, which includes a guaranteed double, vacation and on-stage premium. The music director/conductor premium is 50 percent, and doubling pays 121/2 for the first and 61/4 percent for each additional. Rehearsal and audition musicians receive $550 per week for a 40-hour/six-day week. The hourly call is $25 per hour for rehearsal/audition musicians and $18 per hour for orchestra musicians. The minimum call is two hours. Health benefits are $54 per week and pension is 8 percent. Rehearsal health benefits are $5.40 per hour with a minimum call of two hours, up to a maximum of $10.80 per day. Sick leave is accumulated at one performance for every 48 performances worked. Music preparation wages are 80 percent of General Price List. Musicians are reimbursed for cartage and have identity with the product.


WORKSHOPS

Mancini Project: A four-week workshop agreement was reached with 220 L.L.C., Rich Martini, general manager of K.L. Management, covering eight musicians for four weeks of rehearsals and three presentations at City Center of Mancini Project. The side musician minimum scale is $500 for a five-day/30-hour week including presentations. The scale for musicians hired by the day is $25 per hour for a minimum call of three hours. Premiums include 50 percent for the music director/conductor, 30 percent for the associate conductor and 25 percent for the in-house contractor. Premiums for doubling are 121/2 for the first and 61/4 for each additional. The synthesizer premium is 25 percent. Cartage expenses are reimbursed. Pension is 8 percent and health is $54 per week. Music preparation wages are 100 percent of Broadway rate. Musicians have identity with the product.

Brooklyn: Local 802 negotiated a three-week agreement with Stuart Thompson Productions for six musicians at the Peter Norton Space at Signature Theatre. The contract covers the workshop production of Brooklyn, and provides minimum weekly wages of $400 for a five-day/20-hour week and $800 for a 40-hour/six-day week. This includes four presentations over two-days. Musicians hired on an hourly basis are paid $25 per hour for a minimum two-hour call. Additional workshops of three hours or less pay $75. Premiums include 50 percent for the music director/conductor, 30 percent for the associate conductor and 25 percent for the in-house contractor. Doubling premiums are 121/2 percent for the first and 61/4 percent for each additional. Vacation is 6 percent, pension is 8 percent and health benefit contributions are $54 per week. Music preparation wages are 100 percent of the Broadway agreement. Musicians are to be reimbursed for all cartage expenses. All musicians have identity with the product. o
