Local 802 and Patriot Brass Ensemble — which provides musicians for parades and military themed private events — signed a three-year successor collective bargaining agreement on September 7, 2021. Wages rose from the original rates set in 2017 of $125 per three-hour “parade scale” engagements to $171 in the first year of the new contract, $176 in year two and $181 in year three. Private events pay $250 in the first year, $255 in year two and $260 in year three. Pension pays 12 percent in the new contract, up from the current 4.36 percent. Health benefits rose to $40 per musician per service from the current $30. Patriot Brass also agreed to produce a roster of first call players and an official sub list. On September 7, 2021, Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra ratified an agreement extending the CBA between Jazz at Lincoln Center and Local 802 for three years, from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2024. The terms and conditions of the CBA remain the same. — Todd Bryant Weeks
