The duties of the Local 802 elected Trial Board officers
The Trial Board consists of nine elected rank-and-file members who have sole jurisdiction over all charges against members referred to it by the Recording Vice President. Board members render decisions and prescribe disciplinary measures and fines by faithfully following the procedures set forth in the Local 802 Bylaws. All decisions are made by majority vote.
Duties:
- Attend Trial Board meetings until completion when cases are referred
- Hear testimony from both the accuser and the accused
- Hear from witnesses and consider physical evidence as presented
- Collectively render a verdict and implement a penalty, if indicated
Qualifications:
- Fair mindedness and critical thinking
- Works well with colleagues
- Knowledge of Local 802 bylaws, especially Article V*
- Listens carefully and speaks respectfully
- Understands and adheres to confidentiality
