The duties of Local 802 full-time elected officers
(Note: each full-time officer at Local 802 holds two titles)
President and Executive Director
Duties
- Lead negotiator for Broadway, Radio City, Lincoln Center orchestras
- Oversees and manages 802 staff
- Health Fund trustee
- Leads all membership and Executive Board meetings and reports weekly to the Executive Board
Qualifications
- Negotiating Experience
- Familiarity with Local 802 CBA’s
- Knowledge of Local 802 and AFM bylaws
- Leadership skills
- Public speaking and communication skills
Financial Vice President and Assistant Director
Duties
- Lead negotiator for freelance concert contracts
- Oversees and manages the finances of the local
- Manages the Concert Department
- Reports weekly to the Executive Board
Qualifications
- Negotiating experience
- Familiarity with Local 802 CBA’s
- Familiarity with labor laws
- Experience in finance
Recording Vice President and Assistant Director
Duties
- Oversees recording, organizing, single engagement club dates and jazz (assignments at the discretion of the President/Executive Director)
- Create written minutes at all union meetings including those of the Executive Board
- Negotiate jazz, club date and teaching agreements along with various individual contracts
- Report weekly to the Executive Board
Qualifications
- Negotiating experience
- Familiarity with Local 802 CBA’s
- Familiarity with labor laws
- Recordkeeping skills
