Introducing Greg Riley
Volume 124, No. 1January, 2024
Dear Local 802 members,
I am Greg Riley, and it is with great honor and enthusiasm that I join the Executive Board of our esteemed union. My journey to this position has been fueled by a deep-seated passion for advocacy, leadership, and the pursuit of impactful change within our industry.
From the outset, my motivation for seeking a seat on the Executive Board stemmed from a strong commitment to advocating for the rights and interests of our fellow workers. My experience representing our union at the AFM Convention in Las Vegas was a pivotal moment, offering me a platform to voice our collective concerns and aspirations.
In my quest for effective leadership and representation, I have been inspired by the works of leaders like Margaret Wheatley and Brené Brown. Their emphasis on the power of meaningful conversations and communication in building resilient relationships and tackling complex challenges resonates deeply with me. It was at the AFM Convention that I engaged in enriching discussions with esteemed colleagues like Martha Hyde, Bud Burridge, Lynne Cohen, and Tino Gagliardi. These dialogues not only deepened my understanding of our roles but also instilled a renewed sense of hope and shared wisdom for the future of our industry.
Over the next 18 months, my goal is to engage in conversations that matter, exploring solutions, sharing insights, and co-creating a more desirable future for all of us. My drive is fueled by a strong sense of community, a desire to contribute to a larger cause, and an unwavering commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within our workplace.
In closing, I am grateful for this opportunity to serve and represent you on the Executive Board. Together, let’s work towards a future where every musician’s voice is heard, and their rights are fiercely protected.
Sincerely,
