Preparations for the freelance orchestra negotiations are in full swing and orchestras are formulating proposals.

The New York Pops committee already submitted its proposals to management at a meeting that took place on June 23.

Since many musicians leave the city during the summer to play festivals, negotiations for the Pops will not resume before early September.

This is what typically happens each negotiation year. All freelance contracts expire on Sept. 11. Negotiations often last well through the New Year, but each negotiation is different and it’s anybody’s guess as to when they will conclude.
