The Local 802 Executive Board has promulgated new rates to replace the Single Engagement Classical Wage Scale that expired on Sept. 11, 2023. As happens every three years or so, there is a lag between the expiration of the old rates and the promulgation of new rates. This is due to a few factors, but usually this lag is due to prolonged negotiations with one or more employers. We’ve had several inquiries about the new rates from both members and employers and decided to approach the gap a little differently this year. We averaged the wage increases from 10 freelance orchestras over the last three years and applied the average increase to the expired rates. The rates reflect a 3.25 percent increase over the 2023 rates to be applied retroactively from Sept. 12, 2023 through Sept. 11, 2024. Pending the outcome of the New York Pops negotiation, we will promulgate a multi-year agreement.
