TUESDAY, APRIL 26, 2016

Meeting called to order at 11:00 a.m. by President Gagliardi. Present: Financial Vice President Olcott, Recording Vice President Schwartz, Executive Board members Burridge, Cranshaw, Cutler, Dougherty, Hyde, Kruvand, Sharman, Suttmann, Assistant to the President Bond. Minutes from April 19, 2016 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from April 19, 2016 as corrected. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Political and Communications Director Carroll present. Carroll distributed the endorsement screening interview for State Senator Adriano Espaillat. Discussion held. State Senator Espaillat present. Espaillat spoke to the Executive Board regarding his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives for the 13th District of New York. Lucia Gomez, Political Director, Labor International Union Local 78, present. Discussion held. Espaillat and Gomez excused. Carroll excused.

President Gagliardi reported on matters pertaining to the negotiations between The Broadway League and Local 802. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on a joint meeting to be held with SAG-AFTRA, scheduled for June 1, 2016.

Carroll present. Carroll presented information on the candidacy of State Senator Espaillat. Discussion held. Carroll excused.

Financial Vice President Olcott presented a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between American Composers Orchestra and Local 802 pertaining to a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. It was moved and seconded to approve the MOA with American Composers Orchestra. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. Olcott presented a request from American Composers Orchestra to perform an unpaid special concert to raise awareness of gun violence and memorialize its victims, scheduled for September 25, 2016. The Executive Board requested further information. Olcott reported on a matter pertaining to an honor member.

Gagliardi reported on an unfair labor practice as charged by the Organization of Union Representatives.

Recording Vice President Schwartz reported on his attendance, along with Executive Board member Kruvand, at the “Rock the City” event held by SAG-AFTRA on April 21, 2016. Schwartz reported on matters pertaining to negotiations for a successor agreement with the venue 54 Below. Schwartz presented a request from the Duke Ellington Center for the Arts for support of an educational conference, scheduled for May 19-22, 2016. It was moved and seconded to purchase a half-page advertisement in the conference journal at a cost of $300. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Schwartz presented a revised budget for the Piano in the Park series to take place in Bryant Park during the spring and summer of 2016. It was moved and seconded to approve a revised budget of $9,933.37 for the Piano in the Park series. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Schwartz presented requests from two members for leaves of absence from Broadway shows. It was moved and seconded to approve the leaves of absence. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Executive Board member Hyde excused at 1:15. Carroll present. Carroll presented a phone script and call distribution list for utilization by members of the Executive Board in a campaign to encourage donations to TEMPO. Discussion held. Executive Board member Burridge excused at 1:25. Carroll excused.

Principal Recording Department Business Rep Sheldon present. Sheldon presented a Limited Pressing Agreement between Sh-K-Boom Records and Local 802 for the Roundabout Theatre Company’s Off Broadway production of “The Robber Bridegroom.” Sheldon excused. Recording Business Rep Pawlo present. Pawlo presented an Archival Videotape Agreement between Local 802 and Kamau Adilifu to permit the recording of a concert by the Kamau Adilifu Quartet at Symphony Space on May 27, 2016. Pawlo excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the Archival Videotape Agreement for the Kamau Adilifu Quartet at Symphony Space. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved and seconded to approve the Limited Pressing Agreement with Sh-K-Boom Records for the cast recording of the “The Robber Bridegroom.” Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Local 802 Contract Administrator Covo present. Covo presented a request from Inside Broadway for support of its Beacon Awards Gala, scheduled for June 20, 2016. Covo reported on her attendance at the meeting of the Diversity Committee of the New York State Council on the Arts on April 20, 2016. Covo excused. It was moved and seconded to approve $3,000 for the purchase of a full-page advertisement in the journal of the Inside Broadway Beacon Awards Gala. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Meeting called to order at 11 a.m. by Financial Vice President Olcott. Present: Recording Vice President Schwartz, Executive Board members Burridge, Dougherty, Hyde, Kruvand, Sharman, Assistant to the President Bond. President Gagliardi absent. Minutes from April 26, 2016 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from April 26, 2016 as corrected. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. Assistant to the President Bond reported on Broadway matters. President Gagliardi present at 11:49 and assumed the chair.

Recording Vice President Schwartz reported on a request to pre-record tracks from a Broadway show for a live performance at a charitable event. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on the progress of negotiations between Local 802 and The Broadway League. Discussion held. Board recessed at 12:41. Board resumed at 12:46.

Director of Organizing and Field Services Russell-Brown present. Russell-Brown presented a request for the sponsorship of five live music performances at the venue Muchmores in Williamsburg, Brooklyn as an informational initiative of the Organizing Department, in connection with the Workers Unite! Film Festival on May 17, 2016. Russell-Brown excused. It was moved and seconded that Local 802 request that the Council for Living Music sponsor five live performances at the venue Muchmores in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on May 17, 2016 at a cost of $2,476.49. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Financial Vice President Olcott presented a request from the Oratorio Society of New York to schedule an evening rehearsal at day rates prior to a performance at Carnegie Hall on November 2, 2016. It was moved and seconded to approve the request from the Oratorio Society of New York. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Controller Camiolo present. Camiolo presented the financial report for February 2016. Discussion held. Camiolo excused. Schwartz presented a request from a member for a leave of absence from a Broadway show. It was moved and seconded to approve the leave of absence. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Political and Communications Director Carroll present. Executive Board member Hyde excused at 1:21. Carroll reported on the campaign for the reelection of Congressman Jerrold Nadler and proposed that Local 802 formally endorse Nadler. It was moved and seconded to endorse the reelection of Congressman Nadler. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Carroll proposed a meeting between the Executive Board and Keith Wright, a candidate for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from the 13th district of New York. Discussion held. Carroll excused. Schwartz reported on his meeting with the Finance Committee of the New York City Council to present a request for discretionary funding to support music clinics sponsored by the Council for Living Music. Discussion held.

TUESDAY, MAY 10, 2016

Meeting called to order at 11:05 a.m. by President Gagliardi. Present: Financial Vice President Olcott, Recording Vice President Schwartz, Executive Board members Burridge, Cranshaw, Cutler, Dougherty, Hyde, Kruvand, Sharman, Suttmann, Assistant to the President Bond. Minutes from May 3, 2016 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from May 3, 2016 as corrected. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

President Gagliardi reported on his recent meeting in Chicago with the members of the AFM Canadian Conference regarding the Canadian Conference Production Rules. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on the progress of negotiations between Local 802 and The Broadway League. Discussion held. Gagliardi requested that the Executive Board affirm an e-mail poll in which it approved the new bylaws of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. It was moved and seconded to affirm the poll. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi announced that he and Recording Vice President Schwartz will be meeting on May 14, 2016 with the “Saturday Night Live” band.

Financial Vice President Olcott requested annual anniversary wage increases for two non-bargaining unit employees. It was moved and seconded to approve the annual anniversary wage increases. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Olcott reported on various Concert Department negotiations. Discussion held. Olcott and Executive Board member Kruvand reported on their meetings with the chairperson of the orchestra committee of the Australian National Ballet. Schwartz, Olcott and Kruvand reported on their participation in “Change and Challenge: A Roundtable on the Future of New York’s Arts and Entertainment Workforce” at The Worker Institute of Cornell University on May 5, 2016. Discussion held.

Schwartz presented requests from five members for leaves of absence from Broadway shows. It was moved and seconded to approve the leaves of absence. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Communications and Political Director Carroll present. Gagliardi presented the Local 802 Memorandum in Opposition to Resolution No.4, in response to a resolution scheduled to be considered by delegates to the 100th Convention of the AFM, June 20-23, 2016. Discussion held. Carroll excused.

The board discussed issues pertaining to the scheduling of meetings during the summer months.

Olcott presented a request from the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra to utilize public service wage scales for school concerts on April 18, 20, 21, 23, May 4 and 6, 2016. It was moved and seconded to approve the use of public service scales by the Knickerbocker Chamber Orchestra on April 18, 20, 21, 23, and May 4 and 6, 2016. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.
