Minutes from October 21, 2014 reviewed. Executive Board member Cranshaw present at 11:12. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from October 21, 2014 as corrected. Motion carried unanimously.

President Gagliardi reported on New York City Ballet negotiations. Discussion held.

Gagliardi reported on New York City Opera Renaissance matters. Discussion held.

Gagliardi reported on Circle in the Square matters. Discussion held.

Gagliardi reported on a request from the stage manager of a Broadway show asking to waive Article VIII section F of the collective bargaining agreement with the Broadway League regarding overtime. Discussion held. Theater Representative Couture present. Discussion held. Couture excused.

Gagliardi presented a request from Metro New York Health Care For All Campaign for a donation. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to donate $250 to Metro New York Health Care For All Campaign. Discussion held. Motion carried. Burridge opposed.

Gagliardi presented a request for donations from MUSICARES. It was moved and seconded to donate $250 to MUSICARES. Discussion held. Motion to donate to MUSICARES withdrawn.

Gagliardi presented an invitation to a centennial celebration of artist Ralph Fasanella at the American Folk Arts Museum to promote labor history in the schools, sponsored by the New York City Central Labor Council. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to purchase two $100 tickets to the event. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi reported on the most recent update of Local 802’s retainer agreement with Cohen, Weiss and Simon.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported on Local 802’s insurance carrier, Seneca. Discussion held. Olcott reported on the state of Local 802’s computer servers. Discussion held.

Recording Vice President O’Connor reported on negotiations with the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance.

Local 802 Political and Public Relations Director Kremen present. Kremen presented recommendations for several New York State Assembly and Senate endorsements for the upcoming general election. Discussion held. Kremen excused. It was moved and seconded to donate $250 to the Brad Hoylman for New York State Senate campaign. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously. Executive Board member Burridge excused at 1:05. It was moved and seconded to endorse the list of candidates for New York State Assembly and Senate as presented by Political and Public Relations Director Kremen as follows: For New York State Assembly: Rose, Simotas, Nolan, Weinstein, Bichotte, Camara, Brennan, Cymbrowitz, Brook-Krasny, Colton, Abbate, Lentol, Ortiz, Simon, Walker, Silver, Glick, Rosenthal, O’Donnell, Wright, Linares, Quart, Kavanagh, Gottfried, Seawright (already endorsed by Local 802) and Blake. For New York State Senate: Gianaris, Comrie, Addabbo, Stavisky, Dilan, Hamilton, Savino, Montgomery, Squadron, Hoylman, Krueger, Serrano, Perkins, Rivera, Stewart-Cousins, Wagner, Gipson, Tkaczyk and O’Brien. Motion carried. O’Connor opposed.

O’Connor presented 2 requests for leaves of absence from Broadway musicians. It was moved and seconded to approve the leaves of absence. Motion carried unanimously.

Executive Board member Hyde presented a recommendation from the Membership Meeting Sub-committee to feature a presentation on the newly structured Musicians Health Plan at the membership meeting in February. Discussion held.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2014

Minutes from October 28, 2014 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from October 28, 2014 as submitted. Motion carried unanimously.

President Gagliardi distributed proposed bylaws for a newly formed Eastern Conference of Musicians. Discussion held.

It was moved and seconded to have Local 802 host the New York Conference of Musicians in the spring of 2015. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi reported on Local 802 Musicians Emergency Relief Fund finances. Discussion held.

Gagliardi presented a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the New York City Ballet. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve the MOA. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi reported on “Side Show” matters. Discussion held. Gagliardi reported on the developmental production of “On Your Feet.” Discussion held.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported on requests from North/South Consonance to use public service scales for two rehearsals on January 8 and 9 and a concert on January 11, as well as two rehearsals on February 12 and 13 and a concert on February 15. It was moved and seconded to grant the requests. Motion carried unanimously.

Olcott reported on a tentative agreement with the New Jersey Festival Orchestra. Discussion held.

Recording Vice President O’Connor reported on negotiations with Resorts World Casino. Discussion held. O’Connor reported on Jewish Club Date negotiations. Discussion held.

O’Connor reported on a request from AFM Secretary-Treasurer Sam Folio to participate in a membership retention initiative. Discussion held.

Theater Representative Couture present. Couture presented a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Now’s the Time Productions, LLC for “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.” Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve the MOU. Motion carried unanimously.

Executive Board member Kruvand excused at 12:34. Electronic Media Services Department Representative Sheldon present. Sheldon presented a request for approval of a Limited Pressing Agreement by the Public Theater for the production of “Fortress of Solitude.” It was moved and seconded to approve a Limited Pressing Agreement for “Fortress of Solitude.” Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor presented 7 requests for leaves of absence from Broadway musicians. It was moved and seconded to approve the leaves of absence. Motion carried unanimously.

Meeting called to order at 11:05 a.m. by Financial Vice President Olcott. Minutes from November 7, 2014 reviewed. It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes from November 7, 2014 as corrected. Motion carried unanimously.

Financial Vice President Olcott presented the Coordinating Advisory Committee (CAC) minutes from November 7. It was moved and seconded to concur with the CAC minutes. Motion carried unanimously.

Olcott reported on discussions with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra of St. Luke’s with respect to health insurance matters. Discussion held. Olcott reported on symphonic recording issues. Discussion held.

Recording Vice President O’Connor reported on Working America Health Care, a program designed to help union members apply for health insurance under the guidelines of the Affordable Care Act. Discussion held.

Local 802 Jazz Representative Weeks present. Weeks presented a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with Seven String, Ltd. Discussion held. Weeks excused. It was moved and seconded to approve the CBA with Seven String, Ltd. Discussion held. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor reported on a scheduled meeting with Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams next Tuesday.

Olcott presented a request from the Bronx Arts Ensemble to use to use public service scales for a rehearsal and a concert at Fordham University Bronx Campus on November 21. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve the request to use public service scales. Motion carried unanimously.

Financial Vice President Olcott reported the percentage increase of the U.S. Department of Labor’s ‘All Urban Consumers’ price index for the New York metropolitan area for October through November 2014, by which full time Local 802 officers’ and non-bargaining unit employees’ salaries are determined for the following year.

Olcott presented a request from the Queens Symphony Orchestra to use public service scales for rehearsals and a concert. One rehearsal will be on December 12 and a rehearsal and a concert will take place on December 14. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously.

Olcott presented a request from Gotham Chamber Opera to use public service scales for educational performances of “El Gato Con Botas” on December 9 and 11. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant the request. Motion carried unanimously.

Recording Vice President O’Connor reported on a clinic that will take place in the club room on December 2 hosted by Working America Health Care for Local 802 members seeking health insurance. Discussion held.

O’Connor reported on Resorts World Casino organizing. Discussion held.

O’Connor reported on Jazz at Lincoln Center and New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music internal organizing plans in advance of 2015 contract negotiations with both employers. Discussion held.

O’Connor reported on upcoming negotiations with the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance. Discussion held.

Gagliardi presented an announcement of the MusiCares 2015 Person of the Year ceremony on February 6, 2015 in Santa Monica, CA. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to contribute $500 to MusiCares. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor presented a request from the American Labor Museum to renew Local 802’s membership. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to renew the membership for three years for a total cost of $300. Motion carried unanimously.

O’Connor presented a budget for the holiday party of $6,700. It was moved to approve up to $6,700 for the holiday party. Motion carried unanimously.

Local 802 radio station discussed.

O’Connor requested authorization to make a one-class upgrade for his flight to Los Angeles for Theatrical Motion Picture Agreement negotiations. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to grant authorization. Motion carried unanimously.

Theater Representative Rebecca Blum present. Blum presented a Theatrical Musicians Personal Services Agreement with Joe’s Pub for the production of “Rock Bottom.” Discussion held. Blum excused.

Assistant to the President Bond presented a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Irish Repertory Theater for productions at the DR2 Theater or any other theater with 99 seats or less. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve the agreement with Joe’s Pub. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi presented an MOA with the Organization of Union Representatives (OUR), the union that represents Local 802’s organizers and business representatives. Discussion held. It was moved and seconded to approve the MOA. Motion carried unanimously.

Gagliardi reported on a meeting with representatives from the Office and Professionals International Union, Local 153, the union that represents Local 802’s clerical staff. Discussion held.

O’Connor presented 2 requests for leaves of absence from Broadway musicians. It was moved and seconded to approve the leaves of absence. Motion carried unanimously.
