Entertainment Unions Take On Big Business
Volume CII, No. 10October, 2002
A four-year battle to unionize BET’s long-running stand-up comedy series, Comic View, has ended with the signing of an AFTRA contract. The agreement provides comics who appear on the show significant improvements in all areas, including initial compensation, residuals and health and retirement benefits. The contract immediately benefits hundreds of comics working on the upcoming season of Comic View at tapings slated for Miami, Chicago, Houston, Detroit, Raleigh, Philadelphia and St. Louis.
