All-Star Orchestra
Volume 115, No. 12December, 2015
They’re back! The Senior Concert Orchestra returned to Carnegie Hall this year, where it performed to a full house. Musical director David Gilbert conducted the ensemble, which is composed of the most experienced professionals in New York City, many of them former musicians with the New York Philharmonic, MET Orchestra, Broadway and the recording studios. The program included a violin concerto performed by Chloe Kiffer, who is this year’s winner of the Waldo Mayo violin competition. There was also music by Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Richard Rodgers. This nonprofit orchestra was organized in 1966 by Local 802 and provides special services and programs for its members as well as free concerts to the public.
