DO NOT WORK ORDER: “THAT PARENTING MUSICAL”
- This is an official notice that Local 802 has issued a DO NOT WORK order for any live work or recording sessions for the upcoming Off Broadway show “That Parenting Musical” (formerly known as “In The Trenches.”)
- The show was originally contracted to use live music. But the musicians were fired, and now producers are searching for musicians to record backing tracks. A single rehearsal pianist may be the only live musician left working on the show.
- None of the work for this show is presently covered by a Local 802 or AFM union contract. This includes both live performance (including work as a rehearsal pianist) and any recording sessions.
- Local 802 has been told management for this show may include: Maxwell Haddad and Amber Cotes (lead producers); Visceral Entertainment (Michael Chase Gosselin, general manager); Jen Sandler (executive producer); and Lena Gabrielle (music director).
- Under Local 802’s bylaws (Article 4, Section 1, Paragraph W and Article 5, Section 6, Paragraph D), a member can be reprimanded, fined or expelled for performing or recording for an unfair employer.
- If you get called to play or record for “That Parenting Musical,” please contact Local 802 Rep Melissa Chucaralao or make an anonymous tip to the Local 802 Hotline. We’ll keep your information confidential.
- We hope that producers will reconsider their decision. Local 802 stands ready to discontinue this DO NOT WORK order if producers reach out to us and begin a productive dialogue.
